Tum pukar lo (Hindi)
They say if God were to sing, He would sing in the voice of Hemant Kumar.
To describe this song I truthfully have no words that I think fit. Here’s my rendition of the soulful, haunting, yet soothing melody.
I found recording and mixing this one tougher than I had imagined, thanks to not a recognisable presence of a percussion. One of my all time favorites; hats off to Hemant kumar.
This song, unpleasantly though, brings me memories of a girl I know ages ago who never deserved any of all that love I tried sending her way. Pleasant though, as always, and ever-green are Gulzar’s lyrics.
song: Tum pukar lo
movie: Khamoshi
music and singer: Hemant Kumar
lyrics: Gulzar
New version with reverb uploaded! Thanks for the feedback from everyone
Let me know how you found it?
Sindhu: Thanks a lot for sharing that incredible source of Karaokes
and also for all the encouragement!

“Mukhtasar si baat hai….Tum se pyaar hai…”
These are probably the key lines of the song… His emotion is at its height, having just finished with “jaagte rahenge aur….”…
Mukhtasar means brief, concise, simple ante… huh! what lyrics!
Good rendition bro!! Keep the good work going!!

Hi Madhu
Came here through Sindhuja. You have a beautiful voice and this is a very nice rendition. I suggest you add a lil more effects (like echo, reverb etc). If you haven’t, already. Also I felt a lil jarring in this mix.
But on the vocal part, wonderful job!!

Bravo Madhu! First, it is great to hear you sing again..that I have always been a fan of your voice & twas quite a long time since I last heard you
You do a good job in rendering the song with the same effect and I feel you can mix it better to make it more effective. I am sure it is the best first effort!
Look forward to more.

All: Thanks for the encouraging start to my blog!!
Yea, I felt the first stanza could have been mixed a bit more closely than the rest of the song.
I’ve added a bit of reverb and reloaded the song now.
Keep listening, more songs to follow and keep those observant tips flowing in!

Madhu….a coming here for the fisttime. You hve a great voice which is very emotive. What you need to learn is how to control it better and mix your voice so that it blends with the track. You will go a long way !

Great rendering for a great song.

I just wanted to know what kind of software and hardware you use for mixing the voice with karoke?
Also where do you get such good karoke tracks?

Madhu,
Thank you. I couldn’t find Hemanta’s version online but I could get to hear it, thus making my workday bearable.
Being a Bengali (and an avid fan of Hemanta), I can’t say I liked your version better, but you did do it justice.
