Well please bear with me, ill stick to this one (my fave) and ill figure out how to tinker around …

ಮರೆಯುವ ಮುನ್ನ: ಕನ್ನಡ ಕೆರೋಕೆ ಅಂತರ್ಜಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗುವ ಸ್ಥಳ ಗೊತ್ತಾ? ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿ ಪ್ಲೀಸ್!

ಹಳೆಯ ಗೀತೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅತಿ ‘ಮಧುರ’ವಾಗಿರುವ ಮತ್ತು ನನಗೆ ಅಚ್ಚು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿನದಾಗಿರುವ ಒಂದು ಹಾಡನ್ನು ಹಾಡಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಈ ಬಾರಿ ಎಖೊ, ರಿ-ವೆರ್ಬ್, ಮತ್ತು ಮಿಕ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಗಮನ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ನಿಮಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ಇಷ್ಟ ಆಯಿತೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿ.

ಈ ಹಾಡು ಉಪೇಂದ್ರಕುಮಾರ್ ಅವರ ಮುಂಚಿನ ಗೀತೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು.
ಈ ಹಾಡನ್ನು ‘ಮೋಹನ’ ರಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ, ವಿಜಯನಾರಸಿಂಹ ಅವರೇ ಬರೆದಂತೆ ‘ಸುಂದರ ಸುಲಲಿತ’ ವಾಗಿ ಉಪೇಂದ್ರಕುಮಾರ್ ಅವರು ಸಂಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅಲ್ಲಲ್ಲಿ ಗಮಕಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಚನ್ನಾಗಿ ಅಳವಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅದೇ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನನಗೆ ಈ ಹಾಡು ಹಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ತುಂಬ ಇಷ್ಟ.

ಗೀತ ರಚನೆ ಕೂಡ, ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸೊಗಸಾಗಿದೆ; ಹಾಡಿನ ತಾಳಕ್ಕೆ ಅನುಗುಣವಾಗಿ. ಈಗಿನ ‘ಕೆಂಚಾಲೋ ಮಂಚಾಲೊ’ ಯುಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂತಹ ಗೀತೆಗಳು ಕೇಳಲು ಸಿಗೋದಿಲ್ಲ! ವಿಜಯನಾರಸಿಂಹ ಅವರ ರಚನೆ ಚಿತ್ರಗೀತೆಯಾಗಿ ಉಳಿಯದೆ, ಕವಿತೆಯಾಗಿ ಮೂಡಿಬಂದಿದೆ. ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ ಈ ಸಾಲು ನೋಡಿ,ತಮ್ಮ ಗೀತೆಯನ್ನೇ ವರ್ಣಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಹಾಗೆ:
ಪ್ರೇಮ ಗಾನ ಪದ ಲಾಸ್ಯ, ಮೃದು ಹಾಸ್ಯ, ಶೃಂಗಾರ ಭಾವ ಗಂಗಾ

ಹಾಡು ‘ಡ್ಯೂಎಟ್’ ಆದರೂ ಒಬ್ಬನೇ ಹಾಡಿದ್ದೀನೆ. ‘ಡ್ಯೂಎಟ್’ ಗೆ ಧ್ವನಿ ಗೂಡಿಸಲು ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ಇದ್ದವರು ಪ್ಲೀಸ್ ತಿಳಿಸಿ, ಈಗ ಅಪ್-ಲೋಡ್ ಮಾಡಿರೋದನ್ನ ಬದಲಾಯಿಸ ಬಹುದಲ್ವಾ?

ಹಾಡು ಕೇಳಿ, ಹೇಗಿದೆ ಅನ್ನುವುದನ್ನ ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಬರೆದು ತಿಳಿಸಿ. ಥ್ಯಾಂಕ್ಸ್ ಇನ್ ಅಡ್ವಾನ್ಸ್! :೦)

When it comes to old kannada songs, I am presenting here a song which is really ‘madhura’ and which I like a lot. This time around, i made sure I spent some time on the echo,reverb, mixing and such settings; let me know how you found it

This song is one of the earlier ones composed by Upendrakumar
He has chosen to compose this in raaga ‘mohana’, and in a ’sundara sulalita’ fashion as described by VijayaNarasimha’s lyrics. It’s not devoid of subtle gamakas though. That’s the reason I like singing this song, a lot.

The lyrics themselves are really soothing on the ears; quite apt for the rhythm of the song. You dont get to hear such lyrics in these times of ‘kenchaalo manchaalo’ (sigh)! VijayaNarasimha’s lyrics have transcended boundaries of a film song and have become poetry. Take this line, for example, where he seems to describe his own song:

prema gaana pada laasya, mrudu haasya, shrungara bhaava ganga

Though the song is a Duet, i’ve gone ahead and sang it alone. If anybody’s interested to join voices with me for a ‘Duet’ please let me know; we could replace the uploaded version after-all!?

They say if God were to sing, He would sing in the voice of Hemant Kumar.

To describe this song I truthfully have no words that I think fit. Here’s my rendition of the soulful, haunting, yet soothing melody.
I found recording and mixing this one tougher than I had imagined, thanks to not a recognisable presence of a percussion. One of my all time favorites; hats off to Hemant kumar.

This song, unpleasantly though, brings me memories of a girl I know ages ago who never deserved any of all that love I tried sending her way. Pleasant though, as always, and ever-green are Gulzar’s lyrics.
